I love helping people grasp the full impact of the good news of Jesus Christ for their lives. I listen, learn, envision, strategize, study, and empower others for making apprentices of Jesus at NLCC.  Specifically, I have the honour of shepherding our many Life Groups, many of our classes and courses, and NLCC’s internship program. I also work with the rest of the team to cultivate a culture of disciple-making at NLCC.
God called me to pastoral ministry at NLCC in 2011, after 14 years in campus ministry at Trinity Western University. I’m married to Cyndi, who is an amazing teacher, leader, and scholar in her own sphere. Together we’ve been launching five amazing young adult kids.
I love to learn, and most recently completed a Doctor of Ministry in Leadership and Spiritual Formation at Portland Seminary. I really appreciate spiritual authors such as Dallas Willard, Richard Foster, Jeff Vanderstelt, Ruth Haley Barton, Ronald Rolheiser, N.T. Wright, and Gavin Ortlund. Whenever I can I’m listening to thought-provoking podcasts – sermons, lectures, documentaries, etc. On a more entertaining level, I enjoy the fantasy adventures of C.S. Lewis, J.R.R. Tolkien, and Stephen Lawhead. My idea of a good time is a live concert (small or large) and live theatre with my wife, a quiet walk in nature’s beauty, a long e-bike ride or warm afternoon on a paddleboard, or coffee and spiritual conversation with a friend. In 2024 I trained for and completed two sprint triathlons, and hope to do more of that in the future!
