The image of the dining room table is meant for much more than simply the consumption of food. The table is meant to be a place of news from the day, of recounting stories, of shared emotions. The table is a place of community. We look briefly at what the table meant as a practice for the very first church that started, and see how countercultural it was to the table as Rome viewed it.
